Two Fish Gadget Updates
This weekend I got around to making a couple of improvements to the fish gadget.
- You can now color individual fish.
- When they eat, they create ripples in the water.

How do I place your gadgets on my desk top rather than on my google searach page? – I’m really new at this but am so enjoy watching to your frog, fish, ants, and spider. And I would like to be able to size/re-size the visual area depending on what I am working on,….I guess I would like to be able watch one, all or some on top of what ever I’m working on….is this possibe? Thank you in advance.

Hi Cynthia,
You can download and install the free Google Desktop to do that with the tree frog and the spider. After you install the gadget, you can undock it from the sidebar and then select always on top from the gadgets menu.

I think it’s just beautiful. I liked the color before, so it will remain unchanged for me, but I really like the small ripples, now. It’s lovely and soothing, and has a Japanese aesthetic which appeals to me. It’s like a moving Sumei painting or living Kimono.

This update is great! It really annoyed me before that I couldn’t change the color of individual fish, and now I can! I found it annoying that I could only use two custom colors for the fish. What if I want to custom color all of them? It looks totally different with all the fish different colors though, very cool!

I love your fish and i followed your instructions to get it onto google desktop sidebar- but it doesn’t come up with anything when i type http://fishgadget.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/fish.xml into Add gadgets search bar

The fish are cool, I made mine in the 6 rainbow colors plus black and white. For purple put this in custom color: FF00FF.

Your fish are just superb. You must have spent a lot of time perfecting their behaviour — they are so interesting and life-like.
If you’re considering doing more work on the fish, here are the things I’d most like to see in the next version:
1. It would be cool if I could change the fish’s size, as well as their colour.
2. There’s room for improvement in the way that the fish’s tails move. They seem a bit wriggly — more like tadpoles than goldfish.
