Number of Turtles Option

You can now add up to five turtles to the turtle gadget. If you already have the turtle gadget installed, you should see that he/she has a new friend.

The next feature I will be adding is the ability to change colors. I’m going to work on the behavior of the turtles too. I’d like them to be able to get tired and full. It would also be nice if they could move around without user interaction. Your suggestions are welcomed.

    Very nice!

I’d like to see them not knowing there’s food around unless they can see it, like within a specified vector simulating field of vision or something.

Also, it’d be cool if you could somehow allow us to spin them around instead of just displacing them.

I think that the turtle gadget is sick [ that means amazing in slang]

anyway I think that you should be able to change the size maybe shape and the speed they come towards the curser and the colour they are and add a pattern

gy the way all of your other gadgets are sick I even put them on my google desktop

    keep up the good work

try using the code to get the fish to move around on their own for the turtle
and the fly release option for the frog
could be used as a turtle food release option

    and last of all

    make two kinds of foods
itll add a whole new dimension to the turtle thin

    Hi mlj,

I just made it so that you can rotate and spin the turtles.

I have it so they can’t see the food if it is behind them, but I don’t think it is very noticable because they can always see the mouse. I should make it so they can’t see the mouse if it isn’t in their field of vision.

    Hi abowman,

That’s awesome! Thanks for taking my suggestions on board :) It’s great fun making them spin around in the water!

I see what you mean about the food and mouse - I managed to keep them from going after some food behind them by keeping the mouse cursor in front. Perhaps you could also consider a cap on the distance they can see ahead so the effect is more perceptible.

I used to have some turtles (well terrapins actually) as a kid and this little gadget is starting to remind me of the good times I had with them! I think this is shaping up to be the most interactive and realistic one yet - can’t wait to see more new features :)
